Supple and strong, leather is the replica of femininity in fabric form. Using a combination of delicate knit fabrics and ever-lasting leather, MANAM’s latest collection— “Skin and Stone”, strives to amend society’s preconceptions on what it means to be a woman.
What was once viewed as meek and delicate, is now fiery and strong. Natalie Yaru, the founder of MANAM, sets out to redefine the female stereotype, communicating a message of female empowerment in her most recent campaign.
We sat down with the emerging designer to go behind the scenes of her collection, the campaign and the business of creativity.
While Hollywood will be filled with music and art this weekend, we are also proud to be featuring one of our local fashion designers, Natalie Yaru of MANAM Fashion. She will be transforming The Powder Room (1606 N. Cahuenga) into a stylish shopping experience from 1 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 8. All things MANAM are made entirely in Los Angeles, if not by Natalie’s own hands, then by her contractors downtown. We talked to Natalie about her fashion line, and her involvement in the Only in Hollywood Music + Arts Festival.
Natalie Yaru, founder and designer of Manam Fashion, has found the perfect solution to lounge wear. Loungerie. Exactly what you think it means. Sexy, classy and incredibly comfortable. There are many days that I work from home that I wear the same thing I wore to bed until 4 pm the next day when I’m forced to make a run to the grocery store. The yoga pants and oversize t-shirt that I normally work in are far from motivational. With amazing layering pieces like these from Manam, lounge all you want and work from home all day and slip out of the door looking completely put together. Shot by Ashley Marie Myers, the three of us ladies made a pretty damn fine team romping around my house in Natalie’s designs.
Natalie Yaru, owner and head designer of Los Angeles-based Manam showed her leatherwork and what she calls “loungerie,” which she said are meant to be pairing pieces, for the first time ever since starting up in 2014.
